Glossy, bright green, new leaves on sturdy, upright stems turn almost black over time. ‘Super Nova’ remains compact and bushy, taking up little space on a desk or side table. While this plant tolerates life in a low-light setting, it grows best and will develop its distinctive, inky hue darker and faster in bright indirect light.
Let ‘Super Nova’ dry out completely before watering; if you’re not sure, wait another week as this plant can go 2-3 weeks without water, especially in winter. Also known in the trade as ZZ 'Supernova'. Please note: All parts of Zamioculcas zamiifolia contain a toxin that can irritate the skin or, if ingested, cause tummy trouble.
Zamioculcus is a genus containing only one species, Z. zamiifolia, a tropical herbaceous perennial from eastern Africa. Named for its resemblance to the Zamia genus (Cycads), this extremely drought-resistant plant stores water in its glossy, leathery leaves and large, underground rhizome, making it well-suited to drier, indoor environments.
Its adaptability, resilience to neglect, and low-maintenance nature have made it a popular choice for homes and offices. It's no wonder it is also known as Eternity Plant. Our houseplants appear generously sized in our photos.
